Relational Youth Ministry-Andy Root

I found this link on the Princeton Theological Seminary's Institute for Youth Ministry's website, of a speech/interview by Andy Root on relational ministry. His main arguement seems to be that youth ministry (or any ministry, for that matter) should not see the building relationships as a means to an end. This he calls functional understanding.
