This week in at the River

We are having a meeting on Wednesday look at the last 40 years and how to celebrate it. I've heard of many other celebrations of congregations, organisations etc. There was even a 'next door neighbour celebrating the 39 years. The question is: What is significant about these celebrations. Are we only glorifying old stories that are way beyond their sell-by date ? I believe we need to reflect on our history in order to root ourselves within a proud history. Yes. there was shamefull moments and sagas....but for the most I want to hold onto the moments of resillience, of creativity, of hope and holding on to a dream...

This is what we need today and for tomorrow... we need to drink from our own wells and rivers. We need to be revived and energised by the dreams that is still alive.... some of the dreamers are long gone... but the dream is still alive: a dream of transformation, dreams of a place under God's sun, dreams for our children to blossom and glow and wonder at their beauty.... I know I am a dreamer, but then please pray for us...
